The poet addresses the parents to convince their children about the negative impacts of watching television on their minds. He asks the parents for not installing the television set at their house. Watching television is a passive activity and thus it blocks fresh thinking, thereby making the children dull. It destroys their imaginative faculty. Instead of installing the television set, the poet requests the parents to install a book shelf on the wall for the children to read. It would take a little time to adjust but once they'll begin reading they will love their parents for what they did.

An important theme of the poem is that reading books is a very useful activity for the youth of today . It must be encouraged by the parents . They should replace the Telivision set with the Gallery of the Books .

Another Point is that , When a Child continuously stare at the telivision set his / her eyes are highly affected by the harmful rays coming from that set . It also destroy the thinking power of that Particular child . They may lead to Over - Stress on the children .
