Placenta is a special tissue that helps the human embryo in obtaining nutrition from mother's blood. Structure Placenta is a disc-like structure embedded in the Uterine wall. It contains villi on the side of the embryo. It contains blood spaces, on mothers side, which surround the villi.

Structure:-

Finger like structure. Have choronic villi.

Functions:-

An interface between mother and the feotus.

❥ The waste produce in the foetus is exited through this placenta.

❥ It saves the foetus from probable infections by separating the blood of mother. thus acting like a filter.

❥ The placenta also breaks down the food particles consumed by mother to enable the nutrition to reach the foetus faster.
