The festival of Holi is celebrated every year by the full moon of Falgun Mas. This festival has special religious, mythological and social significance. A legend is famous for celebrating this festival. In ancient times, the Asur king, Hiranyakashipu, was able to conquer Brahma’s boon and his death with his power. Predictably he started to think himself invincible. All because of his fear, he used to worship in the form of God but his son Prahlad was supposed to believe in God. But because of strong faith in Prahlad’s God, his hair did not grow too, but Holika itself became ashes. From then on, Holika combustion is traditionally celebrated on the full moon day of every Fallgun month.
