Answers
Answer:
a)Causes:-
Air pollution has both acute and chronic effects on respiratory health, affecting a number of different systems and organs.Air pollution is caused by solid and liquid particles and certain gases that are suspended in the air. These particles and gases can come from car and truck exhaust, factories, dust, pollen, mold spores, volcanoes and wildfires.
Air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, ozone, sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter affect different parts of the respiratory tract via a variety of mechanisms resulting in respiratory symptoms.
b)Harmful Effects:-
Long-term health effects from air pollution include heart disease, lung cancer, and respiratory diseases such as emphysema. Air pollution can also cause long-term damage to people's nerves, brain, kidneys, liver, and other organs. Some scientists suspect air pollutants cause birth defects.
c)Measures to prevent the pollution:-
Clean breathing matters to health. Increasing public awareness of air pollution and the burden of disease that it imposes on individuals, families and society is an essential step toward making the changes that will improve public health.
Patients need to be informed about the adverse impacts of air pollution on their respiratory health and how they can protect against and minimise exposure to air pollution. Avoidance of the source of air pollution is commonly reported as the best strategy to help minimise respiratory symptoms related to air pollution.
