Traditionally, holidays and birthdays have been occasions for the coming together of friends, family and community members to celebrate the event. Covid-19 has put an end to large scale celebrations. Some even argue that the pandemic has completely robbed us of the fun of celebration. However, I feel that even though the pandemic has forced us to tone down social gatherings, it has made us better individuals, by making us realise who the most important people in our lives are.

Staying home has pushed us to celebrate with those who matter the most- our family. Before the pandemic, it was common to party with friends, leaving the parents at home. Celebrations now are not about lavish parties and a long list of guests arriving in fancy cars, but about being less superficial and more genuine, by spending time with family and being grateful for all that we have. In fact celebrations have become special, because only a selective few attend the event now.
