GEOCENTRIC THEORY:

• The Geocentric theory was proposed by an Egyptian geographer, Ptolemy.

• According to this theory, the earth is the centre of universe.

• The word "Geo" means "Earth" in Greek language.

• All other planets, stars and sun revolve around it.

• This theory was widely accepted by everyone.

• Even the church supported the theory of Ptolemy.

• As, the church believed that God created the universe hence, Earth is at the centre.

HELIOCENTRIC THEORY:

• The Heliocentric theory was proposed by a Polish astronomer, Nicholas Copernicus.

• According to this theory, the sun is at the centre of universe.

• All the planets including Earth, stars, etc revolve around the sun.

• The word "Helio" means "Sun" in Greek language.

• This theory was opposed by everyone and Chruch too.

• However, the theory of Copernicus came true.
