ANSWER:-
Greenwich is considered as Prime Meridian As:-
- The 0 degree longitude passes through Greenwich
- Greenwich is a small city which is located in England near london
- The zero degree that means the central longitude passes through this place
- No other place was considered because this was not getting matched with calculations
Ujjain :- Why not this?
- In early years Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh was considered as zero degree longitude
- But this was creating a difference of 266 kilometre
- It is not at the centre of World
- So the place was calculated and Greenwich was found to be correct place of the central longitude.
