(a) The above tissue shown in the figure, is Phloem tissue which is meant for the conduction of food from leaves to storage organs. They are complex tissue made up of living cells.
✏ The most distinguishing features of Phloem tissue are Elongated, tubular cells and have thin walled sieve tubes. The sieve tubes have sieve pores in the end. The companion cells acts as a sister cell and is just adjacent to Sieve cells. ⸙ Here, we can see that maximum of these cells have nucleus that means they are living,hence they are phloem because xylem have mostly dead cells.

(c) The phloem is generally found in the roots, stem and leaves. It is because they transport food produce by the leaves to different parts of the plant body. They work bidirectionally. The food reaches these parts through the phloem by Translocation.

(d) The function of the parts shown in the diagram are:
- Sieve tube
✒They are primary conducting tissue of plants. They transport organic food synthesised by the leaves to different parts of the plant. They are usually found in pteridophytes and gymnosperms.
They are elongated tubular channels. The end walls have many pores known as Sieve plate which contains Sieve pores.
- Phloem Parenchyma
✒They are ordinary cells which stored food and sometimes assist in the conduction of food in lateral direction(side direction). But they are generally absent in mono cots and herbaceous plants.
- Companion cells
✒They lie on the side of sieve tubes. They are associated with sieve tube by plasmodesmata. It shares the nuclei with the sieve tube and controls all the metabolic activities of sieve tubes.
✦ In Non flowering plants, companion cells are absent but they have albuminous cells.
- Sieve plates
✒They have numerous pores in its surface which connects them and transport the food through it. It also helps in absorption of food particles. They connect the long structures of phloem.
