Answer:
The lake inside the Sultanpur National Park and Bird Sanctuary, which had become a graveyard of fishes and animals when it dried up in June, has got a saviour - the monsoon.
Heavy downpour in the past few weeks has filled up the lake and the authorities have seized the opportunity to check growth of fish species for migratory birds that are likely to flock to the place starting October.
Wildlife department officials are taking no chances this time and have decided not to add canal water into the lake for now to check the growth and breeding of African Black fish.
This fish species had killed the smaller ones which are food for migratory birds.
Haryana's Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Dr Parvez Ahmed said the park was set to play a new innings. "The park would remain closed for maintenance purposes till July 31," he added.
"We have floated around 10 lakh fish seeds of various small species in the lake. By October, these fish species would grow enough to prove to be an ideal feed for the migratory birds that are destined to revel the Park in big number this time," said Wildlife Inspector Shahid Khan.
