Answer:
Jams and Jellies have been used over decades as quick spreads and ready to eat food for kids. They both contain high proportions of sugar that acts as natural preservative for fruits and vegetables (boiled/diced). However Jams and Jellies are preserved using natural preservative (Sugar) and synthetic ones as well (eg - Sodium Benzoate - Class II Preservative). Sodium Benzoate - Sodium salt of benzoic acid (Chemical Formula - NaC₇H₅O₂). Also nick named E211.
