Physical changes that is Common in both boys and girls during adolescence are as follows :

Change in body shape : ↴

Many changes occur in the body shape during the puberty these changes are different for boys and girls. In boys, Shoulder become broader and the chest becomes wider. The body muscles grow more prominently than in the girls. So, the body of the boys look mascular. In gírls, hips gain weight and the region below the waist (pelvic region) becomes wider. The development of the breasts also begin during this period.

Increase in height : ↴

During puberty there is a sudden increase in the height of both boys and girls. This Increase in the height is due to the Increase in the length of the bones of arms and legs along with the internal body organs. The increase in height varies in different individuals. Some may grow suddenly at puberty and then slow down, while others grow gradually. Even all the parts of the body may not grow at the same rate. Sometimes, the arms and legs or hands and feet of adolescents look oversized and out of proportion with the body. But soon the other parts also grow and the body becomes proportionate.

The height of an individual depends upon the following factors:

(a) Inheritance : The height depends on the genes inherited from parents. The genes control the transfer of hereditary characteristics from parents to the offspring. If your mother or father is tall, you may also be tall.

(b) Nutrition : Food rich in protein and vitamins help the bone, muscles and other parts of the body to get accurate nourishment for growth.

Development of Sex organs : ↴

The male sex organs like testes develop completely in boys.Testes start producing the male gametes called sperms. The female sex organs like ovaries, oviducts and uterus, enlarge and develop completely in girls. The eggs begin to mature and ovaries Start releasing eggs.
