let honeys sons age be x

honeys present age= 3x

honeys age 10 years ago= 3x-10

honeys age 10 years ago is also= 5x-50

honeys sons age 10 years ago= x-10

therefore

3x-10=5x-50

=3x-5x=-50+10

=-8x=-40

=x=-40/-8

=x=5

therefore honeys present age is 5 and his fathers age is 15
