wave interaction with a floating structure over flat-bottom is formulated based on linearized Boussinesq equations. The equations presented in this paper are derived from the equation of continuity and Euler’s equation of motion. The Boussinesq equations are solved for open water region, while potential flow theory is solved for structure covered region. The solution of the physical problem is obtained using the eigenmode expansion method. The continuity of Boussinesq pressure and velocity at the interface are used to solve the boundary value problem into a system of linear equations. The horizontal and vertical wave forces on the floating structure are analysed in different cases. The proposed method has been validated against predictions by Takagi et al. (2000) for the linearized problem in the frequency domain without introducing any further asymptotic assumptions. The present formulation and methodology will be helpful to design and construction of floating platform for renewable energy recovery which can be installed in coastal region.
