Given:  The number of students participating are 350, 392 and 840 from three schools respectively.

To Find :  the maximum number of columns in which all the schools can be arranged exact number of times.

Solution:

To Find the maximum number of columns in which all the schools can be arranged exact number of times.

HCF of  350, 392 and 840 to be found.

HCF Highest common factor of given numbers is the largest factors which divides all the given numbers perfectly.

HCF = product of common factors of least power

350 = 2 * 5 * 5 * 7

392 = 2 * 2 *  2 * 7 * 7

840 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 5 * 7

HCF = 2 * 7  =14

Hence maximum Number of columns = 14
