Tubular secretion is the transfer of materials from peritubular capillaries to the renal tubularlumen; it is the opposite process of reabsorption. This secretion is caused mainly by active transport and passive diffusion. Usually only a few substances are secreted, and are typically waste products.

Tubular secretion occurs simultaneously duringreabsorption of Filtrate. Substances, generally produced by body or the by-products of cell metabolism that can become toxic in high concentration, and some drugs (if taken). These all aresecreted into the lumen of renal tubule.
