The hormones of the pituitary gland send signals to other endocrine glands to stimulate or inhibit their own hormone production. For example, the anterior pituitary lobe will releaseadrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) to stimulatecortisol production in the adrenal glands when you're stressed.
