Plagiochasma appendiculatum is a thalloid hepatic which is dorso-ventrally flattened. The male receptacles are normally horse-shoe shaped, sessile and present on the dorsal surface of the thallus, while the female ones are stalked, variously lobed (usually 3-5 lobed) and present on the main thallus too.
