Step-by-step explanation:

Given that, hot dogs come in packs of 10 and buns in packs of 8.

Now minimum no. required of both to have equal no. of each will be the LCM of 10 and 8

8 = 2^3

10 = 2^1 × 5^1

LCM(8,10) = 2^3 × 5^1 = 40

So now, minimum packets of hot dogs required = LCM(8,10)/ no. of hot dogs in packet.

= 40/10 = 4

and minimum packets of buns required = LCM(8,10)/No. of buns in one packet = 40/8= 5

Hence, 4 packets of hot dogs and 5 packets of buns should be purchased.
