it's true because fishes or aquatic animals cannot survive in hot water.it also reduces amount of oxygen.

The fishes and the other aquatic animals living in the water bodies can survive only in some optimum temperature condition. If the temperature rises or falls , it will affect aquatic life and they may even die .

So , if hot water is discharged, the aquatic organisms will not be able to survive in increased temperature and hence may die .
