Explanation:

In the closed vessel at constant temperature, the rate of evaporation will remain constant. Initially, the rate of condensation will be lower as lesser number of molecules per unit volume are present in the vapour phase.

Due to this, the number of collisions per unit volume with the liquid face decreases.

Inside a sealed container when hot water is in equilibrium with its vapors then inside the container dynamic equilibrium is generated between the liquid and vapor phase.

How it happens:

  • When the water present inside the container reached its boiling point then the water vapors starts appearing.
  • When less numbers of water vapors are present in vapors state the rate of condensation will be lower.
  • But after a while it achieved the dynamic equilibrium between the vapor and liquid state.
  • Dynamic equilibrium is achieved when the rate of evaporation is exactly equal to the rate of condensation.
