Because when hot water is released into any water body the temperature of that also rises.

Now some organisms are sensitive to change in temperature so they die. There dead Bodies may cause pollution.

Hot water also reduce the amount of oxygen dissolved in water this also cause less supply of oxygen and cause deaths
