HOTS Kyara went to a grassland ecosystem and observed long grasses and organisms around like eagle, insects and frogs. She got confused in arranging them properly in a food chain. Can you solve his problem in doing so? Also mention trophic level for each.

Answer:

Grasses are producers- the first trophic level.

Next we have insects that feed on grasses. They are- in this case- primary consumers and the second trophic level.

Frogs eat insects. They are secondary consumers or primary carnivores. They make up the third trophic level.

Lastly we have the eagle, which is the fourth trophic level. It is ta major predator of frogs.

The food chain is as follows-

Grass

Insects

Frogs

Eagle
