Let's solve it by Arithmetic Progression.
This series will form an A.P as first term is 1, second is 3 , third is 5 and so on. By this way the common difference will be 2.
Given,
a = 1
common difference = 2
Number of terms = 13.
Sum of all terms = n/2 [ 2a + ( n - 1 ) d ]
= 13 / 2 [ 2 * 1 + ( 13 - 1 ) 2 ]
=13 / 2 [ 2 + 12 * 2 ]
= 13 / 2 ( 2 + 24 )
= 13 / 2 * 26
= 13 * 13 = 169.
