To find : what must be added to 2 times of  \frac{5}{7} to get 3 .

Solution :

  • Let , x  be the number added to 2 times of \frac{5}{7} to get 3 .
  • Then as per given condition we write , x + 2(\frac{5 }{7} ) = 3
  • Using transposition method we find the value of x.
  • x + 2(\frac{5 }{7} ) = 3

        x + \frac{10}{7}  =3 \\x = 3 -\frac{10}{7}  \\ x= \frac{21-10 }{7}  \\x = \frac{11}{7} \\

Hence , \frac{11}{7} must be added to 2 times of  \frac{5}{7} to get 3 .

Given: 2(\frac{5}{7} )+x=3

We have to find the missing number.

  • For this, we will separate the variables on one side and the constant on another side.
  • Then, we will simplify the equation.

We are solving in the following way:

Let assume the number bex.

Then, from the given statement we can write:

=>2(\frac{5}{7} )+x=3\\\\=>\frac{10}{7} +x=3\\\\=>x=3-\frac{10}{7} \\\\=>x=\frac{3\times7-10}{7} \\\\=>x=\frac{21-10}{7} \\\\=>x=\frac{11}{7}

Hence, if we add\frac{11}{7} in2 times of\frac{5}{7} we get3.
