Answer:

1st consider only multiplication:

sum should be 10(1+2+3+4) and multiplication 21 and divisor of 21->1,3,7

1*3*7 we can't take sum will be 11.

so only one possibility 3*7=21

now we have to think how can we split those 2 numbers into 4

now we will go for addition. 3=1+2,and 7=3+4..

we use all 4 numbers and we are done.

so 21=(1+2)*(3+4)->this is only one possibility.

now 7 can be (1+2+4)

so 21=(1+2+4)*3

21=1+21

so now we will concentrate on 20..

now problem will become how can we write 20 as combination of 3 numbers 2,3,4

divisor of 20->1,2,4,5,10

sum should be 9.

so possibilities-> 4*5 only

now split these 2 numbers into 3 numbers.

5=(2+3)

so 20=(2+3)*4

so back to the actual problem,we can write:

21=1+(2+3)*4

now 21=2+19

19 is a prime number

so write 19 as a combination of 3 numbers 1,3,4

where sum will be of these numbers 8.

here we won't get any combination

now consider 21=3+18

so write 18 as a combination of 3 numbers 1,2,4

here maximum number we can produce is 8

so here also we won't get any combination

now 21=4+17
