very interesting question
an iron rim is made to make the wooden wheel for a long life . so to give it a tight fix the rim is made smaller than the wheel.
we know that all substance expand on heating so does the iron wheel ...
when it is heated it clogs easily into wheel and then when it cools it fixes it self very tightly over the wheel giving it for life
hope I explained well
if so mark my ans as brainliest

Answer:
The metal rim is always made slightly smaller than the wooden wheel. The metal rim is heated. On heating, the rim expands and fit onto the wheel. Cold water is then poured over the rim. Due to cooling the metal rim contracts and fits tightly onto the wheel.
