Answer:

Like other multicellular organisms, plants growthrough a combination of cell growth and cell division. Cell growth increases cell size, while cell division (mitosis) increases the number of cells. Asplant cells grow, they also become specialized into different cell types through cellular differentiation

Explanation:

The Seed

Think about what people need in order to grow: healthy food, water, air, a warm place to live, and time. Plants need all of these things, too!

Inside of a plant's seed there is an embryo, which is what we call the baby plant. The embryo has a stem, leaves, and roots. When a seed gets planted into the ground, it will go through a growing process called germination. Germination happens inside the seed, and with just the right combination of soil, water, and sunlight (warmth), the embryo will start to grow.

Once the seed has germinated, the embryo will sprout and pop right out of the seed. The roots will grow down into the soil and start absorbing water and food from the soil, and the stem will shoot right up towards the sunlight. Once the leaves grow, the plant will be ready to start making food on its own.

Photosynthesis

One important difference between growing plants and growing children (as well as other living things) is that plants can make their own food. Sure, you can go into the kitchen and make a sandwich; that's making food. But can your body actually produce the food that you eat by itself? Plants can do this through a process called photosynthesis.
