how ac generator is different from dc generator ?

Both AC and DC generator works on the principle of "electromagnetic induction" but there are diffrences too. In AC generator carbon brushes are connected with slip rings which interchange the place while rotating leading to change in direction of current but in DC generator carbon brushes are connected with split rings due to which current flows in one direction only.
