oxides of sulphur, carbon, nitrogen forms weak acid in the presence of moisture.These acid are brought down by rainwater, such rain are called as acid rain. These rain is corrosive to metals, stone, concrete etc.
sulphur dioxide + water = sulphuric acid
nitrogen oxide + water = nitric acid
Only NO and NO2 responsible for acid rain.
