Binary Fission

In preparation for reproduction, the amoeba will withdraw its pseudopodia and form a spherical shape. Mitosis is observed in the nucleus, and the cytoplasm divides at the center of the cell and separates, forming two daughter cells

Amoeba reproduces by a method called binary fission. It is called asexual type of reproduction which is a primitive type of reproduction without any crossing and exchange of genetic materials.

All the cell materials including nuclear materials replicate and then a constriction forms in the cell wall which progressively deepens. When the constrictions meet, there will be two portions of a cell with equal cell contents and they separate to become two independent cells. This type of cell division is called mitotic division.
