You can defuse the atomic bomb by removing the neutron source of the bomb. fission ( not talking about spontaneous fission ) is triggered by the neutrons ... Just pull any goddmn wires, crush anything you can pull apart, and the bomb is useless except for the weapons grade uranium in it.

fission (not talking about spontaneous fission ) is triggered by the neutrons. in the absense of neutron it remain as dirty bomb.
You disconnect the timer from the bomb. Each one has to be done individually depending on how the bomb is constructed. You have to know the literally thousands of ways of building them to be able to defuse them successfully.
Depends, are you looking at a military grade weapon where the internals are well packed away from tampering or a mythical terrorist bomb that is sitting on a table? For a military grade weapon, you are pretty much screwed as they are ruggedly constructed and access to the internals is difficult (and in the case of the old “suitcase” nukes-had anti-tampering mechanisms). In that case you would be better dropping it out of a window (IF YOU COULD LIFT IT (you likely won’t)) or to be crude hit it with a car or truck. It would not cause a nuclear detonation, but by disrupting the body of the weapon you would then have access to the internals and would likely cause at least some pre-mature detonations of the conventional explosives that would solve your problem by making a full detonation impossible.
The mythical terrorist bomb would likely be crudely constructed and access to the internals would be easier. In either case, cutting the wires leading to the conventional explosives would be sufficient. Even if only some of the wires are cut the unsymmetrical compression would greatly lower the yield of the bomb. For a “gun” type bomb, remove one of the fissile components and that is it.
