how and where reduction of chromosome number occur in meiosis?

As previously mentioned, the first round of nuclear division that occurs during the formation of gametes is called meiosis I. It is also known as the reduction division because it results in cells that have half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell.

in meiosis the two daughter cells undergo Interkinesis for a short period of time and finally enter into the meiosis second which is exactly similar to mitosis. in mitosis I. e in anaphase 2nd the reduction of chromosomes takes place and four daughter cells are formed with half no. of chromosomes


babubotany: whether S phase occur in Meiosis or not, if it does chromosome number double na then how it reduces into half
shayrana: in meiosis the cells are diploid and after entering meiosis 2nd they form haploid cells which r 4 in no. and half no. of chromosome s are present
