How and why was m Hamal dress different that day?

Because it was last day of school. Germans win the war and the command from Barlin was to teach only German language not any other. M Hamel use those cloths only on special occasions and that day of his life was worst. So to meet everyone last time,to see the school last time he was dressed special. He were wearing beautiful green coat,his frilled shirt and the little black silk cap.
