like 2 carbon atoms CH2CH2

double bond is between 1st and 2nd atom

,i.e.,eth-1-ene or 1-ethene or just ethene

the alkene formed is ethene.

it can be more complex depending on the arrangement of hydrogen atoms or any other atom other than carbon

eg , CH3CHCHCH2CH3

here we have 5 carbon atoms i.e., pent

and the double bond is between 2nd and 3rd atom,

the alkene formed herne will be named pent-2-ene or 2 pentene.
