They are bilaterally symmetrical, triploblastic, coelomate with organ-system level of organisation. Phylum Chordata is divided into three subphyla: Urochordata or Tunicata, Cephalochordata and Vertebrata. Subphyla Urochordata and Cephalochordata are often referred to as protochordates and are exclusively marine.
