Hi,
The DNA is coiled and recoiled around proteins called histones. ... The resulting two identical copies of DNA are connected to each other at the centromere. Each copy is called a chromatid. A chromosome, before cell division is formed by one chromatid while it is formed pf two chromatids after cell division..
Hope it helps you buddy

The fundamental unit of chromatin, termed the nucleosome, is composed of DNA and histone proteins. This structure provides the first level of compaction of DNA into the nucleus. Nucleosomes are regularly spaced along the genome to form a nucleofilament which can adopt higher levels of compact ultimately resulting in the highly condensed metaphase chromosome. Within an interphase nucleus chromatin is organized into functional territories.
