Chromosomes are the thread like structures found in the nucleus. They are composed of nucleo protein called DNA.They are related because both of them are concerned with the transmission of hereditary characters through generations.

DNA is the genetic material composed of about “3 billion” base pairs in the ‘human genome’.

DNA can be imagined as a long thread-like structure which is wrapped around structural proteins known as ‘histones’. Thin is DNA-protein complex is known as chromatin.

The chromatin in turn loops and coils to form more compact structures known as chromosomes. In humans, the thread-like DNA is compacted and organised into “23 pairs of chromosomes” in the nucleus of each cell.
