. Prosthetic groups are organic compounds whereas cofactors can be organic or inorganic (metal ions). Prosthetics are distinguished from cofactors as they are tightly bound to the apoenzyme.

Enzyme is divided into two parts

1) SIMPLE ENZYME
2) CONJUGATED ENZYME

*CONJUGATED enzyme is further divided into two parts

1) APOENZYME
2) CO-FACTORS

*COFACTORS are further divided into three parts

1) Co-enzyme - > loosely attached organic part. example Vitamins , AMP, ADP, NAD etc

2) Metal activators => loosely attached inorganic parts. Example - Fe , mg , Zn

3) PROSTATEIC GROUP => tightly attached inorganic or may be organic part. example - Heam group in catalase and peroxidase enzyme.
