Hey Dear,

◆ Classification of colloids -

(i) Based on physical states of components -

  1. Gas in liquid - aerosol
  2. Gas in liquid - aerosol
  3. Liquid in gas - foam
  4. Liquid in liquid - emulsion
  5. Liquid in solid - sol
  6. Solid in gas - solid foam
  7. Solid in liquid - solid emulsion
  8. Solid in solid - solid sol

(ii) Based on nature of dispersion medium -

  1. Water - aquasol
  2. Alcohol - alcosol
  3. Gases - aerosol
  4. Benzene - benzosol

(iii) Based on interaction between dispersed phase and dispersion medium -

  1. Attraction - lyophilic
  2. Repulsion - lyophobic

Thanks dear...

Answer:

(ii) Classification based on Nature of interaction between dispersed phase and dispersion medium:

  • Depending upon the nature of interactions between dispersed phase and the dispersion medium

  • the colloidal solutions can be classified into two types as (a) Lyophilic and (b) Lyophobic sols.
