Similarities – During cellular respiration the sugar molecules in food are form carbon dioxide and water and energy is given out.

C6 H12 O6+ 602 → 6CO2 + 6H2O + energy

This is similar to the chemical reaction that occurs during burning or combustion.

ParameterCombustionCellular Respiration

RateCombustion is a fast process.Cellular Respiration is a slow process.

TemperatureIt occurs at high temperature. It occurs at body temperature.

PlaceIt can occur anywhere. It occurs only in living cells.

Energy is released in a single step in the form of heat and light.Energy is released in steps and stored in chemical molecules called ATP.

Answer:

combustion and cellular respiration involves the oxidation of substances. While in the respiration food is oxidized and energy is released in a stepwise manner, in combustion the cumbustible substance is oxidized with the release of large amount of energy.  in the both processes energy liberted.
