Answer:

Continental plates are formed due to cooling of magma. We know that continental plates are continuously moving. Since the shape and size of the earth is not changing due shifting of continental plates, the plates need to form layers. This is the reason for the formation of mountains and trenches. This are formed when two plates collide with each other and one plate moves down another. The plate moving down gets heated tremendously due to the internal heat of the Earth and melts this way it gets destroyed. Plates can only move if they are pushed apart. thus whenever two plates are pushed away from each other molten magma comes out of the surface of the Earth. this way new crust is formed. Thus to conclude continental plates, a product of cooling of magma, gets formed again when destroyed by the movement of the plates.

  • According to geologists continents and oceans are actually situated on massive base of rocks called plates, that are floating on the mantle.

  • Continental plates are formed due to the activities like sea floor spreading in which the lava raising up from the mantle are hardened into rock creating new rocks.

  • These plates are constantly pushed and therefore keep moving slowly.

  • This movement of plates is called plate tectonics.

  • While this movement continues, they pushes/collide each other, a lot of pressure is excreted by each of them on the other.

  • The plate thus going under into the mantle becomes molten.

  • It actually pulls the rest of the plate in to the mantle. Thus the plate is destroyed.
