Corpora adiposa of cockroach has lobes.
Each lobe consists of cells like :
- Trophocytes: Stores fats along with glycogen which acts as reserve food when needed.
- Mycetocytes: Harbours symbiotic microorganisms which synthesizes amino acids,vitamins & fats into glycogen.
- Urate cells: Absorbs nitrogenous waste from the blood and helps in synthesis of uric acid.
just as the liver of vertebrates does.
