Mixed cropping : The practise of growing two or more crops in the same field at the same time all together. ... The main objective is to maintain the fertility of the soil. and to increase the yield of the crops. The crops that are chosen are such that nutitional requriment of one crop is fulfilled by the other.

The crops are selected on the basis of there requirements of nutrient. Those crops which require the mineral of opposite types are grown together. One crop will use all the nutrients required by it and the other crop will take take up nutrients required by it....
