Practice of cultivation and yield of crop are dependent on weather, soilcharacter and availability of water.

i)High yield :to increase productivity per acre.

ii)Improved quality: quality factor varies from crop to crop as follows:

1)Baking quality is prime for wheat,

2)protein content in pulses is important,

3)quality of oil in seeds and preserving ability is important for fruits and vegetables.

iii)Resistivity to Biotic and abiotic attacks: crop production can decrease due to biotic and abiotic interference.

Examples of abiotic are:  stresses like drought, salinity, flood, heat ,cold et.

iv) Shorter  maturitytime : shorter the time from sowing to harvesting more economical is the agricultural product.v)Wider adoptability favours stabilising of the crop.

vi) desirable agronomical cartelistic such as  crops which are tall as well as contain multiple branching favours the productivity.
