These includes that dam construction often causes inundation of land, and thus destroy agricultural lands. Dams are often built in ecologically sensitive locations, which ultimately destroy the ecology and animal biodiversity of the place as well as the river. Dams also cause displacement of the original inhabitants of that place, rendering them homeless.
