floods happen when rivers or dams overflow and water enters roads, fields, houses.. They occur when dams across rivers collapse(to fall down) and when there is continous rain, storms or cyclones.. they cause huge damage to lives and property. animals and crops are also affected by floods.

It is so because during a heavy rain, when the water behind the dam reaches the capacity of the dam, water must be released the prevent damage to the dam. But , surprisingly sometimes, extremely large amounts of the water needs to be released during the large rain events. These large rain events sometimes leads to the floods downstream....
