how are different sources d notes generated in musical instruments like guitar which uses strings for sound generation and flute which uses blown air for sound generation?

guitar produces sound by vibrating the strings ,that is , they produce sound when the strings are being strucked , plucked or a bow is drawn across them . Where as , a flute produces sond by vibrating the air column inside the hollow part of the instrument . Thus , both these sound are different .
