from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration to achieve equillibrium is called osmosis.
The movement of substances through a selectively permeable membrane from a region of high concentration to a region of lower concentration is called diffusion.

osmosis is diffusion but diffusion is not osmosis. as-
Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.
whereas osmosis is the diffusion of water molecules from a semi-permeable membrane from low solute concentration to the region of high solute concentration.
