The air that you breathe in pass through the nostrils. The hair and muscles present in the nostrils trap dust and germs present in the air. Nostrils also warm the air to body temperature. Then air the enters the tube like structure called the trachea . The trachea is commonly called the windpipe , trachea trap dust and microorganisms that enters through the nostrils, the mucas along with the dirt , that has been trapped is pushed out of the windpipe at regular intervals.
