_■Digestion of proteins:-
Digestion of protein begins in the stomach in the presence of enzyme called pepsin which remains in inactive form pepsinogen when food is not inside. When we eat, pepsinogen gets activated in the presence of HCL and acts on the protein molecule. This breaks down protein molecules into large polypeptides. Then it moves to small intestine where pancreatic enzymes(trypsin, chymotrypsin, carboxypeptidase)breaks them into hydrolysed small peptides/aminoacids.
_■Digestion of fats:-
Lipid digestion starts in the mouth. Fats are common lipids in the form of triglycerides which are further made up of glycerol molecule attached to three fatty acid chains.Small amount of digestion begins in the stomach but most of them is digested in small intestine.Enzymes are-
•Lipases (lingual,gastric and pancreatic)
•Phospholipases
•Cholesterol esterases
